Best season: fall. Fall offers the best combination of stable weather, dramatic scenery, and low crowds — expect crisp days (40–60°F) and chilly nights (25–35°F) from late September into early October. Hikers get peak visibility on the Pacific Crest Trail and surrounding ridgelines, plus golden grasses and pockets of yellowing deciduous shrubs framing the evergreen forests. Trail traffic drops after Labor Day, so you'll enjoy quieter campsites and better solitude while still avoiding the deep snow of winter. Peak months: September, August, July, October
Authoritative notes state fall delivers the most reliable conditions and colorful shrubs.
Potable water is not available at this site. There are vault toilets, a dumpster, and local boat launch for non-motorized boats.
