Canoe or kayak owners get the most out of this place: shore fishing is rough, but the lily-pad-covered twin lakes are made for a small boat. Come in September for cold, crowd-free nights and genuinely dark skies. Bring all your own water.

Hikers, swimmers, and anyone expecting hookups will find this too limited. June is genuinely rough: rough one-lane logging road access goes muddy, and the mosquitoes are relentless. No potable water on-site means packing in everything you drink.

Fall delivers the best combination of crisp weather and solitude before the September 30 closure. Days run 45-60°F with nights near or below freezing, ideal for fishing and wildlife photography as crowds vanish after Labor Day. Mid-summer brings 70°F days and clear skies for stargazing, though early June turns muddy with relentless mosquitoes. Winter buries the area in snow with temperatures well below freezing. Bring serious bug spray if you visit in June.
Fall described as best: crisp weather, solitude and great wildlife/photo opportunities before closure.
Little Twin Lakes Campground offers a private and serene camping experience with large campsites that provide significant privacy from neighbors. User reviews highlight the cleanliness and maintenance of the facilities: 'The pit toilet was extremely clean' and 'every site had a fire ring and picnic table, and the fire ring had recently been cleaned out.' However, potable water is not available, so campers must bring their own. Each site has picnic tables, and there are clean vault toilets on-site. There are no electrical, water, or sewer hookups.
