Best season: fall. Early fall (late September) offers the best combination of comfortable weather and lower crowds — daytime highs are typically in the mid-60s to low-80s°F with cool, crisp nights in the 50s°F. Trails and bluffs take on warm tones and fishing often improves as water cools, while boat traffic eases up after summer, making hiking, wildlife viewing, and lake outings more pleasant. Because the campground closes September 30, the fall window is short but highly rewarding: expect quieter campsites, good Peak months: September, May, June, April Avoid: October, November, December, January
Early fall cited as best time: pleasant temps, quieter, improved fishing before Sept 30 closure.
