Albeni Falls Dam sits on the Pend Oreille River. Behind the dam, the waters of the Pend Oreille stretch 65 miles through a glacially carved valley that separates three mountain ranges. Rimmed by mountains that rise 6,500 feet, Lake Pend Oreille is one of the largest and deepest natural lakes in the western United States. In some areas, it plunges to a depth of 1,237 feet.

Best season: summer. Summer offers reliably warm, sunny weather (daytime highs typically 65–85°F, cool mornings in the mid-40s to mid-50s) and full access to the campground and lakefront amenities. This is when boating, swimming, water-skiing, fishing (trout, kokanee, bass), and shoreline hiking are at their peak and trailheads are snow-free. Expect moderate to busy crowds on holiday weekends and July–August evenings, so reserve early once bookings open (reservable dates begin June 20). Peak months: July, August, June, September Avoid: January, February, March, April
Main season for swimming and boating; lake warms but site is busiest and often crowded.

Springy Point Campground provides campers with a range of amenities, offering convenience and comfort amidst nature. Facilities include drinking water, flush toilets, showers, and a beach access point. A small picnic shelter accommodating up to 25 people is also available for reservation by calling the park at 208-437-3133. Many campers appreciated the clean showers and dishwashing stations, while others found the proximity of amenities like water spigots to campsites very helpful. However, there are reviews mentioning overcrowding at shared facilities, and concerns about cleanliness, such as diapers in trash bins and rocky areas for tent camping.
