Best season: summer. Summer offers the best combination of reliable access, mild daytime temperatures (typically 55–75°F) and the spectacular high-alpine wildflower displays that Tony Grove is famous for. Trails are clear, Tony Grove Lake is ice-free for fishing and non-motorized boating, and campground sites are open and reservable (June 27–Sept 1), making logistics straightforward. Expect cool nights (often 30s–40s°F), afternoon thunderstorms some days, and moderate-to-high crowds in July and August. Peak months: July, August, September Avoid: October, November, December, January
Summer (mid-July–Aug) is peak season for wildflowers and best overall access and weather.
