Anglers chasing rainbow, cutthroat, and Kokanee salmon get the most out of this place. A boat ramp and rentals sit less than a quarter mile away at the day-use area, and a lakeside singletrack mountain bike trail starts just off camp. Summer weekends fill fast, so book early on R

No showers, no dump station, no electric hookups, and a road reviewers call 'intense' will frustrate RV campers expecting full-service infrastructure. The 2-night weekend minimum also rules out quick one-night stops.

About the campground

The elevation is 7,600 ft. The campground, overlooking Soldier Creek Reservoir, is composed of two loops (A and B), both of which stretch up a stream-carved dell through Aspen trees and sagebrush. Loop A, to the left of the campground entrance, is better shaded by Aspen and a few hand-planted Lodgepole pines. Most camp sites in Loop A have ramadas for additional shade and the campgrounds only tent sites (walk-ins) are located in this loop. Loop B is to the right of the entrance and contains mostly open camp sites with some tucked back into a grove of Aspen. This loop has the campground's double camp sites and views of the reservoir. Limited groceries, ice, bait, gas and boat rentals are available from the marina. Firewood is available for a fee. This is bear country; practice safe food storage techniques.
