Best season: summer. Summer offers the most reliable access and the warmest, driest weather for hiking and primitive camping at this 6,316 ft site — daytime highs typically range from the low 70s to mid 80s°F with cool nights in the 40s–50s°F. Trails are fully snow-free, wildflowers are at their peak in early summer, and all 12 free sites are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Expect moderate weekend crowds but plenty of solitude on weekdays; be prepared for afternoon thunderstorms and possible wildfire/ Peak months: June, September, July, October Avoid: November, December, January, February
