Best season: spring. Spring offers the best balance of comfortable temperatures (daytime highs typically 65–85°F, nights 45–60°F), blooming grasses and wildflowers, and lively lake conditions ideal for fishing, boating, and early-season hiking. Water clarity and levels are usually good for paddling and swimming, while shade is still tolerable before the full heat of summer arrives. Crowds are moderate—weekends fill up, so book sites ahead for April and May weekends, but weekday visits are peaceful. Peak months: April, May, March, June Avoid: October, November, December, January
Described as the best balance: mild temps, wildflowers and good lake levels; sites fill on spring weekends.
