Go if

Tent campers chasing real solitude on the cheap. Sites 5 and 6 put you right on the water and have the most room; get there early on summer weekends. The 9-mile North Fork Umatilla Trail starts nearby for day hikes or wilderness access, and catch-and-release fishing for steelhead

Skip if

Storm damage has knocked out some sites and blocked access between site groups, so don't count on a full campground. No hookups, no showers, no flush toilets, supplies are an hour away, and the gravel access road punishes low-clearance vehicles. RVs aren't a fit here at all.

Overview

Situated between the South Fork and the North Fork of the Umatilla River, this campground offers many more activities than just camping. Fishing (catch and release) and hiking in the North Fork Umatilla Wilderness are popular from early spring to late fall. With campsites nestled within a riparian area among an ample mix of conifers and deciduous trees and heavy vegetation that provides great privacy, you will think you are camping in the wilderness itself!
