Best season: summer. Summer offers the best combination of dry weather, easy access, and full availability of beach and dune activities — expect cool, comfortable days in the mid-50s to high-60s°F and nights in the mid-40s to low-50s°F. The dunes, beach, and trails are at their most usable for hiking, dune exploration, beachcombing, and boating; wildlife viewing (shorebirds, seals) is excellent and park facilities are fully open. Crowds are highest on summer weekends and holidays, so midweek visits give the best mix Peak months: July, August, September, June Avoid: December, January, February
Positive spring reviews; good birding and fewer crowds than summer noted by campers.
