Best season: summer. Summer offers the most reliable, pleasant weather at South Beach with the clearest coastal views and the driest conditions for camping and beach access. Daytime highs typically range from the mid-50s to high-60s°F (12–20°C) with cool nights, morning fog that often burns off to sun, and afternoon breezes that keep things comfortable. This is peak time for tidepooling, beachcombing, hiking the coastal trails, and wildlife viewing (seals, shorebirds, and occasional whales) though weekends in July–A Peak months: July, August, September, June Avoid: December, January, February, March
Summer is the best season: clearest views, driest conditions, but sites fill quickly.
South Beach Campground is positioned on a bluff overlooking the Pacific Ocean, offering panoramic views and direct beach access. Key amenities include flush toilets, picnic tables, and fire rings. However, the campground is primitive with no potable water, no showers, and no utility hookups (electricity, water, or sewer). There is also no camp store on site, but supplies, including water and firewood, can be sourced from nearby areas.
