Best season: fall. Fall offers crisp, stable weather and the best combination of low crowds and scenic change — expect daytime highs roughly 45–65°F and nighttime lows often dipping to 25–40°F at 5,069 ft. This is prime time for hiking, wildlife viewing, and photography as aspen and riparian trees color up and summer dust/fire smoke usually subsides. Trail and road access are still generally good through September and often into October, but check local forest service notices for early snow or fire restrictions. Peak months: September, October, June, July Avoid: December, January, February
Seasonal note: 'Fall delivers the best combination of low crowds and scenic change.'
