Fall campers chasing aspen color (peak mid-September to early October) will find the sweet spot here: comfortable days, cold nights, almost no crowds, fishing in Mud Creek, and stargazing with zero light pollution.
Tent campers who need flat ground should know that most sites lack adequate pitching space, the one pull-through is unlevel, and the vault toilet gets mixed reviews on smell. Summer visits without serious bug defense are a bad idea.

Fall offers the best combination of comfortable weather and solitude. Daytime highs range from the mid-40s to low-60s°F, with nights dipping into the 20s-30s°F at this elevation. Peak aspen color arrives mid-September through early October. Spring and summer bring warmer days but also relentless mosquitoes. Fishing remains productive in fall as fish feed before winter. Expect cold mornings year-round and pack layers.
