No potable water on-site is a hard logistical fact, not a minor inconvenience. Campers who forget that, or who need hookups, cell service, or a host nearby, will have a rough time 24 miles from the nearest town.

Summer (mid-May through mid-October when services run) brings daytime highs in the mid-60s to low 80s, with nights dropping into the 30s–50s. The creek is fishable, wildflowers peak, and long daylight works well for wildlife watching. One reviewer warns: "Be prepared though, it gets cold." Spring offers wildflower displays as snowmelt feeds the creek. Fall turns the aspens gold. Winter draws snowmobilers. The rustic cabin near the entrance is a warming hut. But temperatures drop well below freezing.
Spring is ideal for wildflowers and creek flows; reviewers highlight spring visits.
