Fall brings the best conditions. Expect daytime temperatures between 40 and 65°F, with nights dropping to 20–35°F. Aspens and willows turn color in late September through October. Mosquitoes diminish significantly compared to summer, and wildlife activity increases as animals prepare for winter. Deer hunting season overlaps parts of fall in the Fremont-Winema, so wear orange if you're hiking during that period. Summer temperatures can reach 86°F, while winter days hover around 35°F with nights near 23°F.
