Best season: fall. Fall offers the best combination of crisp, clear weather and spectacular mountain-to-lake color, with daytime highs often in the mid-40s to mid-60s°F and cool, frosty nights. This is peak time for quiet hiking, excellent shoreline and boat fishing as trout become more active in cooler water, and generally very low crowds at the small 11-site campground. Expect calm mornings, vivid aspens and willows in late September to early October, and fewer bugs compared with summer — though check local hunt Peak months: September, October, August, June Avoid: December, January, February
