Ruby River fishing and stargazing in the Gravely Mountains are the draws. With only 10 first-come sites and reviews reporting just one other couple nearby, solitude is realistic. Trailers up to 28 feet fit, and the vault toilet gets consistently clean marks.
No potable water on-site means hauling everything you'll drink. Pack-out trash rules add real logistics. No cell coverage and no reservations also mean showing up and hoping for a spot with zero backup communication if plans change.

<p>Cottonwood Campground is a relatively remote campground offering a nice relaxing campground that is ideal for the minimalistic or rustic adventurer. If you want to disconnect from the chaos and reconnect with nature, there is no cell service at this site so it is an excellent choice with 10 camping units, a maximum recommended trailer length of 28', and ADA vault toilet. There are no garbage services at this site, so please pack it in, pack it out!</p>

Summer delivers the most reliable access and comfortable camping weather, with daytime highs around 65-80°F and nights cooling to 30-45°F. Trails and dirt roads are usually dry and passable from roughly June through September, prime time for fishing and hiking. Winter transforms the area into deep snow country. Spring and fall can be unpredictable, with mud and sudden storms. Weekend and holiday crowds are moderate, but the remote location keeps visitor numbers down even during peak season.
