April through October is peak season, when showers run hot and Fisher Cave tours operate regularly with ranger-led programs interpreting the geology. Spring brings the best combination of mild weather and active programming: daytime highs run 55–75°F (40s–50s at night) from April into May, the Meramec runs high for boating, and wildflowers carpet the forest floor. Summer sees daily cave tours in July and August. November through March offers stripped-down peace. Facilities are limited to a frost-free spigot, but you'll have the trails largely to yourself and see the bluffs in their stark winter beauty.
Spring brings mild weather, wildflowers and resumed cave tours and ranger programs.
