No potable water, no cell signal likely, no host, and first-come-first-served means a wasted paddle if both sites are taken. Anyone counting on a shower, hookups, or a guaranteed spot should look elsewhere in the Gunflint corridor.

Elbow Lake (Gunflint) offers a dispersed camping experience with minimal amenities. The two sites on the lake are backcountry-accessible and located only by canoeing or non-motorized boating. Each site includes a fire grate and a latrine. Restrooms and potable water are not available, and campers must pack out all garbage. The emphasis is on Leave No Trace principles, including hanging food packs and washing 150 feet from water bodies.
