Summer brings warm sunshine that can make the exposed prairie sections quite hot, so many visitors prefer the mild temperatures and vibrant colors of spring and fall. The seasonal changes are particularly dramatic here, from wildflower-dotted grasslands in spring to golden prairie hues in autumn.
Summer offers reliable weather, warm lake water, and park programs/events.
