Large RVs will struggle, sites run small and the roads are narrow. Campers who need hookups or a dump station are also out of luck, and the farm odor drifting in on the wrong wind has turned off more than a few reviewers.

Summer brings the fullest prairie experience. Typical highs run 75–90°F with lows in the 50s–60s. June through July is prime time for prickly pear blooms and peak wildflower displays. Long, warm days make hiking and wildlife viewing most rewarding, and interpretive programs run most frequently. Expect moderate to high weekend crowds at popular overlooks, though weekdays remain quieter. Reviewers recommend bringing insect repellent during the warmer months.
