Sites 1 and 3 sit closest to the river, where brook trout, steelhead, and smallmouth bass are all fair game between banks. Bring every drop of water you need; the nearest potable source is 2 miles away at Kenton Wayside.
Holiday weekenders expecting solitude will find competition for all six spots, plus occasional teenage party noise. No water onsite and vault toilets that reviewers actively warned each other about make this a rough fit for anyone camping without a fully stocked vehicle.

<p>Sparrow Rapids Campground provides visitors with an opportunity to be near a wilderness and a Wild/Recreation River at the same time. This campgrouind has six campsites that can accomodate tents, trailers, and motor homes. It is a limited service campground.</p>

Summer brings the most comfortable conditions: daytime highs in the mid-60s to upper-70s°F, cool nights in the 40s–50s, and pleasant river flow for fishing or paddling. The forest canopy keeps sites shaded during peak heat. Winter dumps over three inches of snow weekly during peak months, transforming the area into backcountry terrain. Even in July and August, the six-site limit keeps crowds light, though weekends and holidays see heavier use.
