Weather and SeasonsSummer is the sweet spot. Daytime highs run mid-60s to upper 70s, nights cool into the mid-40s to mid-50s. Swimming, paddling, and fishing peak from July through August, though weekends fill faster. The forest canopy provides plenty of shade when temps climb. Mosquitoes are a real problem from late May through July. Nearly every review mentions them. The campground stays open year-round, but winter access requires a hike in since loops aren't plowed.
Natural Features and SceneryThe campground occupies forested shoreline at 755 feet elevation. Dense tree cover shades most sites, and many sit directly on or near the water. The lake itself offers sandy swim areas and sunsets that reviewers mention frequently. Thick woods create the kind of quiet, secluded feel that makes the place feel remote even when other campers are present. Fishing and paddling conditions are consistently good according to user feedback.
