Fall offers the best combination of comfortable temperatures, low crowds, and peak wildlife activity — expect crisp daytime highs around 50–70°F and cool nights dipping into the 20s–40s°F. Trail colors are at their best in September–October and the Continental Divide and Lewis & Clark trail junctions are especially scenic and quieter after the summer rush. Hunting season and cooler weather concentrate wildlife activity, making it a prime time for wildlife viewing and photography; however, wear a Peak months: September, October, July, August Avoid: December, January, February

Agency Creek Campground offers four campsites in a secluded, arid area along the Lewis and Clark National Backcountry Byway. The campground is located near the Lewis and Clark National Historic Trail and the Continental Divide National Scenic Trail. It is important to respect cultural and historical items in the area. While the site is described as primitive, it provides opportunities for many activities, including camping, hiking, biking, hunting, OHV riding, and wildlife viewing.
