Best season: winter. Winter offers the most comfortable weather for hiking and OHV riding — expect daytime highs in the mid-60s to low-70s°F (15–23°C) and cool nights in the 40s–50s°F (5–12°C), with much lower humidity and far fewer mosquitoes. Those conditions make it prime time for long Florida Trail day hikes, wildlife viewing (deer, wading birds, and more active mammals), and confident OHV travel on firm trails; crowd levels are generally low to moderate except holiday weekends. Lower insect pressure and reduced Peak months: January, February, December, March
Reviewers say winter is the favorite: cool days, low humidity, fewer mosquitoes.
