About Lower Wekiva River State Park Campground

Saddle up for a true Florida wilderness adventure at this primitive equestrian campground, exclusively designed for horse camping enthusiasts. Your horses will enjoy dedicated stalls, corrals, non-potable water, and tether posts, while you'll appreciate the accessible restroom and shower facilities. Reserve your spot in advance and bring proof of negative Coggins—this first-come, first-served gem fills quickly with limited RV and trailer parking available.
Primitive equestrian camping is offered (primitive camping available only to those camping with horses). Tents must be pitched in designated camping areas. Recreational vehicle and trailer parking is available on a first-come, first-served basis; no cabins or group sites are described.

The preserve offers multi-use trails for bicycling, hiking and equestrian use, paddling access on the Wekiva River via Katie’s Landing, fishing, birding/wildlife viewing, geocaching, and interpretive/nature trails.
HikingSand Hill Nature Trail is a self-guided ~2.5-mile loop (about 50 minutes). The Florida National Scenic Trail runs through the park and there are 18 miles of multi-use trails at the northern entrance.
