Tent campers are out of luck, no tent sites here. Light sleepers should also know that Eglin AFB training noise carries into the campground, and early-morning maintenance runs have woken up more than a few reviewers.

The Los Banos Dam and Reservoir are on Los Banos Creek above the San Luis Canal, near Los Banos, California. The dam and reservoir are features on the Central Valley Project - San Luis Unit. The reservoir has 620 water surface acres and 12 miles of shoreline. The recreation area offers trails following the Path of the Padres, a boat and hiking trail. The Path leads to the baths used by the padres of early California. During the spring, guided interpretive tours are provided on the trail. The reservoir offers day use facilities for picnic and family activities. Fishing opportunities are available, and the reservoir is stocked during the fall and winter months with trout. A horse camp is available and there are equestrian trails for the horse enthusiast.
Site is about 6 miles south of the town of Los Banos on State Highway 165.

Spring brings the most pleasant conditions: daytime highs in the mid-60s to low-80s °F, cooler nights in the 50s–60s, lower humidity, and fewer mosquitoes than summer. Migratory birds pass through, understory plants bloom, and calm bayou water suits paddling and inshore fishing for spotted trout and redfish. Expect moderate crowds on spring-break weekends. Late fall through early spring also draws campers seeking cooler weather, though January reviews mention near-freezing nights and one instance of hot-water problems during a hard freeze. Summer is typical Florida: hot, humid, heavy insect activity. Many campers use the park as a base for Destin beaches during summer months.
Peak season with warm weather, perfect for water activities. Book early.
