Best season: winter. Winter is the best time to visit Midway Campground because the preserve is in its dry, cool season: daytime highs are typically 65–75°F with nights in the 50s–60s°F, making hiking, biking, and wildlife viewing far more comfortable. Water levels are lower and alligators and wading birds are easier to spot along the lake and canals, while mosquitoes and humidity are at their lowest. Crowds are moderate (holiday weekends aside), and RV and tent sites are pleasant for overnight fishing and long dayh Peak months: January, February, March, December Avoid: July, August, September
Dry, cooler Dec–Feb with reduced mosquitos; winter is the most popular and praised season.

Midway Campground offers a range of amenities to enhance the camping experience. Each RV site is equipped with electricity (15A, 30A, and 50A hookups), and there is a dump station for convenient waste disposal. While water hookups are not available at individual sites, potable water can be accessed at fill stations near the bathrooms and the dump station. Flush toilets are available, but reviews consistently note the lack of showers. Each campsite includes a picnic table and a hibachi-style grill or fire pit. Covered picnic areas are strategically placed around the central lake, which serves as a scenic centerpiece of the campground. However, the campground does not offer Wi-Fi, and cell phone reception is generally poor, with some reviewers mentioning spotty service depending on the provider. The campground is well-maintained and has clear signage. Trash facilities are present, and some tent sites include bear-proof food lockers.
