Summer delivers the most reliable access and the fullest range of activities: expect daytime highs around 55–75°F and nighttime lows in the low 30s–40°F at 9,500 ft, with wildflowers, fishing, and long daylight hours. Trails, OHV routes along the Alpine Loop, and stream fishing are at their peak after spring melt, though afternoon thunderstorms are common—plan hiking for mornings and watch weather. Crowd levels are moderate (busy on holiday weekends) but Mill Creek’s remote location still offers Peak months: July, August, September, June Avoid: October, November, December, January

Mill Creek Campground (CO) offers a variety of amenities to enhance the camping experience. Each campsite is equipped with a metal fire ring with a cooking grate, a picnic table, and a bear-proof food storage box. Reviewers consistently praised the cleanliness of the facilities, including the vault toilets. Hand pumps for potable water are available on both ends of the campground. Campground hosts are present during the peak season, which runs from June to early September. There are no electric or sewage hookups available. Trash services are provided via bear-proof dumpsters.
