You're camping in late summer or fall when wasp activity peaks and hosts may be less consistent.

Best season: spring. Spring brings the best combination of mild weather, dramatic snowmelt flows on the Stanislaus River, and peak wildflower displays—expect daytime highs around 50–70°F (10–21°C) and chilly nights in the 30s–40s°F (0–8°C). This is prime time for hiking, photography, riverside exploration, and spotting spring wildlife while crowds are still lighter than summer. Be aware river currents are strongest during peak snowmelt (late spring), so enjoy viewpoints and swimming holes with caution. Peak months: May, June, April Avoid: January, February
Described as best season: 50–70°F days, wildflowers, high river flows; campground popular in spring.
TeleLi puLaya (Black Oak) Campground is a relatively new campground, inaugurated in 2014, and offers a range of standard amenities suitable for both small groups and larger gatherings. It features paved roads and parking pads, vault toilets, picnic tables, and fire rings at each site. Potable water is available at hydrants shared by several sites. The campground lacks hiking trails to the nearby reservoir, and there are no electricity hookups or showers.
