WEAVERVILLE RANGER STATION, P.O. BOX 1190

Driving directionsFrom I-5, take California State Highway 36 West. From US-101 take California State Highway 36 East. Once on CA-36, there are two options: Option 1 is longer but primarily on paved Forest roads, while Option 2 is shorter and entirely on gravel Forest roads. Call the Ranger Station at (530) 623-2121 before your trip for up-to-date road conditions. GPS devices and online mapping programs should not be relied upon, as they often provide inaccurate directions. Option 1: Turn south onto Forest Road 30 (29N30), follow it for approximately 8 miles until it intersects with Forest Road 35 at Pine Root Saddle. Continue for approximately 11 miles to Forest Road 28N10 and turn left. After less than a mile, turn right onto Forest Road 28N36 and travel approximately 4 miles to Post Creek Guard Station. Option 2: Turn south onto Forest Road 45 (29N45), continue for 12.5 miles until reaching Forest Road 28N36. Turn right and travel less than 2 miles to the green gate marked 'Road Closed,' which leads to the cabin.
Access is challenging due to remote and gravel Forest roads. Seasonal weather closures may occur. Roads are narrow and require watching for fallen logs due to recent wildfire damage.
Nearby places
Red Bluff (approximately 45 miles, 1.5 hours), Redding (approximately 50 miles, 1.75 hours), Fortuna (approximately 60 miles, 2 hours)
Nearby supplies
Supplies can be purchased in Red Bluff or Redding if traveling from the east, or Fortuna if traveling from the west. Accessibility to stores and fuel is limited near the cabin.
