Families or couples expecting a standard campsite will find nothing here: all three areas are group-only with minimum headcounts, no water hookups, no showers, chemical toilets only, and spotty cell service that makes navigation genuinely tricky on unmarked trails.
Compare with similar sites, watch availability, and build a packing list — Camp Sage handles all of it.
Spring, particularly mid-May into early June, delivers the best conditions. Daytime temperatures sit in the mid-50s to mid-70s°F, nights drop to the 40s-50s°F. Trails firm up after winter rains dry out, wildflowers peak, and wildlife viewing improves. Group sites open mid-May, so you can reserve for larger gatherings before summer crowds arrive. Autumn brings dramatic fog on cool mornings. Winter sees gentle rains and clear views when storms pass. The park stays relatively dry year-round with consistent breezes.
Mid-May–early June is best: lush greenery, wildflowers and firm trails; peak seasonal highlight.
