Poorly marked trails trip people up even in daylight, arriving after dark is genuinely disorienting. Add spotty cell reception, a 0.2-mile hike to potable water, no fires allowed, and only two small tent pads, and anyone expecting even basic car-camping comfort will be frustrated
Compare with similar sites, watch availability, and build a packing list — Camp Sage handles all of it.
Spring offers the best camping: daytime highs around 60-70°F, nights dipping to the low 40s-50°F. This is peak wildflower season and prime time for spotting raptors. Crowds pick up on warm weekends, but weekdays stay quiet. Summer brings warm, temperate weather ideal for stargazing. Winter delivers cold air and dramatic storms that nourish the volcanic soils. Autumn and winter rains set up spring's bloom cycle.
Spring is best: peak wildflowers, raptors, reviewers praise green grass and low crowds.
