Best season: fall. Fall offers the best combination of prime fishing, wildlife viewing, and low crowds — expect cool, crisp weather (roughly 35–50°F) and increasingly stable windows for floatplane or boat access. Late August into September brings peak salmon runs (coho and late sockeye), excellent shore- and river-fishing, and intense wildlife activity as whales, seals, bears, and eagles feed along the fjord and tidal flats. With shorter daylight but far fewer visitors than summer, trails and the cabin feel remote Peak months: September, October, May, June Avoid: January, February, March, April
Fall best for fishing and wildlife viewing with fewer bugs and good salmon runs.
