Soft-sided campers are prohibited by rule. Mosquitoes overwhelm calm evenings all summer, the access road gets rough and muddy enough that reviewers flag 4WD, and potable water is currently out of service, so pack everything in.

<p>Brooks Lake Campground hosts 13 sites around Brooks Lake. Trails from the campground access the Washakie Wildernes as well as a multitude of recreational mountain lakes.</p><p>Water is not available. This site is not accessible to those with mobility impairments. Elevation is 9,200 feet. Maximum spur is 32 feet.</p>
The elevation 9,200 ft. NOTE: (1) The Moran Entrance of the Grand Teton National Park is 38 miles west of campground and (2) gas and limited groceries are available 2.8 miles south on US 26/287. Shoshone National Forest 572 The campground is composed of one loop and two spurs; the spurs have no turnaround for RVs. It is scenic with spruce trees providing shade to the camp sites, a very blue Brooks Lake, green meadows and surrounded by the breccia cliffs of the southern edge of the Absaroka volcanic field. Some sites overlook Brooks Lake and there is no privacy between sites in the loop. The Teton Wilderness is about 2 miles by foot and horseback. This is grizzly bear country; practice safe food storage techniques. There are bear-proof food containers at the campsites and a mandatory food storage order in place. ONLY hard-sided RVs are permitted in the campground. NOTE: Gas and limited groceries are available 2.8 miles south on US 26/287.

Brooks Lake is 234 acres - no jet skis.
The parking aprons are gravel. An RV waste station, with no potable water and fee donation, is available in Dubois, WY across from the entrance to the National Bighorn Sheep Center on E St.
From Dubois, WY, take US 26/287 north 20.8 miles to Brooks Lake Recreation Area/Forest Rt. 515 sign. Turn right onto Rt. 515 (gravel) and go 5 miles to Brooks Lake Lodge. Turn right in front of lodge, staying on Rt. 515, into campground. NOTE: Forest Rt. 515 can be rough.

Summer brings daytime highs around 65-70°F, but nights at this elevation drop into the 30s and 40s even in July. The campground is open June through October. Mosquitoes can be heavy during calm weather, and afternoon thunderstorms are common. Strong sun at 9,200 feet requires sunscreen. Reviewers recommend warm sleeping bags and effective DEET-based repellent regardless of the season.
Peak season: pleasant days and full access, but cold nights and heavy mosquitoes at times.
Potable water is not available at this site. The water system is currently inoperable.
