Low-clearance cars, trailers, and anyone counting on water at the tap. The pipeline repair left the campground without potable water, sites slope and crowd together, and horseflies make summer afternoons unpleasant without serious bug spray.

Hiking and horseback riding are all easy to achieve just minutes from the campground.</p>
The elevation is 7,000 ft. NOTE: The Moose Visitor Center of the Grand Teton National Park is 20 miles north of campground. The campground, located between the National Elk Refuge and Gros Ventre Wilderness along a Douglas fir-covered ridge, is more tent than RV friendly. One camping site has a magnificent view of the Teton Range while the rest are tucked into mature Douglas fir trees. The understory is grass and there is no privacy between sites. The campground is convenient to Jackson, WY, the National Elk Refuge and the Grand Teton National Park. Firewood is provided for a fee. The Curtis Canyon viewpoint, located just before the campground's entrance, offers panoramic views of the National Elk Refuge and Jackson Hole. This This is bear country; practice safe food storage technique. Use provided bear-proof food storage box.

The parking aprons are dirt. Some low overhead tree branches limit sites for RVs. The parking apron angles are awkward limiting travel trailer use to very few camping sites. Not recommended for medium to large RVs or trailers.

Summer brings daytime highs around 65–80°F and nights that drop to 35–45°F at this elevation. July and August see the most visitors, so arrive early for quieter sites. The Douglas firs provide shade during hot afternoons, and the ridge catches cooling breezes. Reviewers complain about flies and horseflies on summer afternoons. Bring bug spray. Winter snow closes most facilities, though the area draws cross-country skiers and snowshoers.
Positive fall mentions and quieter visits, though later season brings harsher road conditions/closures.
Potable water is not available at this site.
