Light sleepers will struggle at higher-numbered back-loop sites like 70 or 75, where interstate noise runs all night. Full-hookup RVers should also know there are no water connections at any individual site.

Fall delivers the best conditions. Mid-September through mid-October brings peak foliage against the sandstone cliffs, with daytime temperatures in the mid-40s to mid-60s°F. Mosquitoes vanish, crowds thin out compared to summer's Wisconsin Dells rush, and the trails stay comfortable for hiking and photography. Be aware of hunting seasons if you visit late October into November. Summer means heavy bugs along the trail. Reviewers consistently mention mosquitoes and poison ivy. Muddy conditions linger after rain in the low-lying marsh sections.
Mid‑Sept to mid‑Oct peak foliage against sandstone cliffs cited as the best season.
