Best season: fall. Visit in fall for crisp, clear weather and peak Northwoods color — daytime highs are commonly in the mid-40s to mid-60s°F with cool nights dipping into the 30s–40s, and mid-September through early October delivers the brightest maples and birches. Water is calm and clear for paddling and fishing, trails are excellent for hiking and wildlife viewing, and insect pressure drops dramatically. Crowds thin after Labor Day and the campground moves to first-come, first-served after September 2, so youʼl Peak months: September, June, July, August Avoid: November, December, January, February
Fall noted as best season: cooler temps, far fewer bugs and excellent scenery and solitude.
