No advance reservations and an in-person-only claim system means a wasted drive if sites are gone. Relying on the QR pay option is risky with spotty cell service, so bring cash or a backup plan.

This location is available on a first-come, first-served basis only. Visitors are required to physically arrive at the campground to purchase and claim a site. Once on-site, you may be able to pay for your campsite(s) by scanning a QR code using the Recreation.gov mobile app, and the Scan and Pay feature.
If this option is available, you will need to first download the free Recreation.gov mobile app https://www.recreation.gov/mobile-app prior to your arrival as some remote areas have limited or no cellular service.

Best season: summer. Summer offers the most reliable warm, dry weather and full access to Forest Service Road 5130, making creekside sites and water-based relaxation or fishing easy to enjoy. Expect daytime highs roughly in the mid-70s to low-90s°F and cool nights in the 40s–50s, with low chance of snow or mud. This is peak recreational season for swimming, wading, and evening campfires (watch for fire restrictions), though sites fill early mornings since everything is first-come, first-served.
