No potable water is a hard stop if you're unprepared to pack in everything you'll drink. Cell service is unreliable enough to block mobile payment, so download the Recreation.gov app before leaving town.

Best season: summer. Summer offers the most reliable access, warm daytime weather, and the full suite of riverfront activities — expect daytime highs roughly 65–85°F and cool nights in the low 40s–50s. The Chiwawa is at its most inviting for swimming, wading in river pools, and bank fishing for trout, while nearby trails and a short drive to Lake Wenatchee open up boating and longer hikes. Weekends in July–August can be moderately busy, but weekdays remain pleasantly quiet for an intimate riverside stay. Peak months: July, August, September, June Avoid: December, January, February
