The park offers cabins for rent, tent/RV drive-in campsites, and lean-to (3-sided shelter) sites.
Historical Significance
The park is located on land formerly associated with the A. G. Dewey Company woolen mill; the mill and village history and remnants at the head of the gorge are part of the park’s cultural history. The gorge itself was formed by glacial activity approximately 13,000 years ago.Weather and SeasonsPlan your visit between Memorial Day weekend and the second Monday in October, when the park opens its gates to capture Vermont's finest outdoor weather. Spring brings rushing waters and emerging wildflowers, summer offers warm days perfect for exploration, and early fall transforms the surrounding forest into a spectacular color show—classic New England camping at its seasonal best.
Natural Features and SceneryVermont's most impressive gorge takes center stage here, where ancient glaciers carved a stunning chasm that plunges down to the rushing Ottauquechee River below. Your campsite sits tucked among mature trees, offering peaceful woodland shade while keeping you close to dramatic overlook views. The Green Mountains rise in the distance, and families enjoy the generous open play field that gives kids room to roam after a day exploring the gorge trails.
