Soldier Creek Long Term sits on Strawberry Reservoir at 7,200 feet, known for exceptionally clean facilities and attentive camp hosts. The campground draws families and groups with good site spacing, lake views, and direct access to fishing, boating, and hiking. Flush restrooms, a dump station, and a small marina are on-site.
Campsites are set among rolling sagebrush-covered hills next to Strawberry Reservoir; most campsites offer sweeping views of the reservoir and surrounding hills. Small pine trees dot the campground but provide very little shade.
Weather and SeasonsBest season: summer. Summer offers the best combination of reliable access, warm daytime temperatures (typically 65–85°F) and long daylight for boating and fishing on Strawberry Reservoir. This is peak season for trout trolling, powerboating, paddle sports and biking the rolling sage-covered hills; evenings are cool (40s–50s) so camping is comfortable. Expect higher weekend crowds and occasional afternoon thunderstorms—plan weekday trips or arrive early to secure a waterfront site and bring layered clothing.

Natural Features and SceneryThe campground occupies a shoreline where sage-covered hills roll down to Strawberry Reservoir. Pines shade many sites, though coverage varies by loop. Views of Strawberry Bay and the water are common, especially along the waterfront sites in Loop A. The reservoir itself dominates the scenery. A wide expanse reflecting sky and distant peaks. Beach access points line the shore. The landscape feels open, with enough sage and scattered trees to break up the terrain without crowding the sightlines.
