RV owners with trailers should walk the loop before unloading as pull-through sites run uneven and low branches catch tall rigs. No showers, no dump station, and water is currently off-site with no camp host present.

Spacing, rather than the grassy under-story, provide good privacy between campsites. Most of the pull-throughs are located in the center of the loop and connect the loops two interior roads. Mule deer may be seen in the campground. Possible day trips are Newspaper Rock State Historic Monument and the southern end (Needles District) of Canyonlands National Park. This is bear country; practice safe food storage technique. A bear-proof food storage box is available.

Summer brings the most reliable access and comfortable conditions. Daytime highs reach 60–75°F, while nights drop to 30–45°F. Cool enough that campfires feel necessary, not optional. Trails dry out completely, making this the best window for hiking and biking. The elevation offers a genuine break from lower desert temperatures. Weekends and holidays fill the 16 sites, but weekdays stay quiet.
Best season: cool days (60–75°F), reliable shade and positive summer reviews.
