<p>Located in Pisgah National Forest on NC 215, Sunburst Campground was once a logging camp. Now nine primitive campsites offer quiet camping near the West Fork, Pigeon Rivers. Sites have picnic tables, tent pads, and lantern hooks. Flush toilets in bath house, and firewood available for purchase. This facility also offers a Day Use Fee for picnic area and parking. </p>
The elevation is 2,200 ft. This campground is located on State Rt. 215 (National Scenic Byway); expect some road noise. There is a stream across Rt. 215.
Open April 1 through October 15
From Canton, NC, take State Rt. 215 south 16 miles to campground. An alternative is to take State Rt. 215 (milepost 423) from the Blue Ridge Parkway north 8.6 miles to campground.

Peak fall colors and cool, stable weather make autumn the best time to visit Sunburst — at 3,323 ft you can expect crisp days around 50–65°F (10–18°C) and chilly nights in the 30s–40s°F (0–5°C), which are perfect for campfires and stargazing. Foliage typically peaks in mid–late October, and trails and sites are comfortable without the summer humidity; weekends can be moderately busy but weekdays are pleasantly quiet.
