Best season: fall. Fall offers the most striking scenery at Lake Powhatan — crisp days, cool nights, and peak Appalachian foliage (typically mid-to-late October) make hikes and lakeside photography exceptional. Expect daytime highs around 60–75°F and nights dropping into the 35–50°F range, perfect for cozy campfires at your glamping tent. Fall also brings fewer insects and excellent fishing and wildlife viewing, though weekends during peak color can be busier so book early. Peak months: October, September, June, May Avoid: December, January, February
Fall offers peak leaf color, ideal temps, fewer bugs, and excellent wildlife/fishing viewing.
