Historical Significance
The park is located within the village of Geneva-on-the-Lake, Ohio's first summer resort area. Land acquisition for the park began in 1964 with additional parcels added through 1972; the lake and regional history (including Native American and early European use of Lake Erie) are described in the park history.Weather and SeasonsGeneva State Park truly comes alive during the warmer months when naturalist programs invite you to discover the lake's ecosystem and rangers lead engaging activities for all ages. From Memorial Day through Labor Day, BeachGuard water-quality monitoring (managed by the Ohio Department of Health) helps ensure safe swimming conditions at the beach. The Nature Center serves as your gateway to understanding the park's unique environment through October, then closes for winter as the park settles into its quieter cold-weather rhythm.
