Best season: fall. Fall is the standout season at Afterbay Campground for cooler, stable weather (daytime highs typically 50–70°F, crisp mornings 30–45°F) and exceptional wildlife activity—big game rutting and waterfowl migration make wildlife viewing and photography excellent. Lake levels and calmer winds in September–October create great conditions for fishing and peaceful boating, while crowds thin after the summer holiday period.
