River access is the only way in, full stop. No potable water, no trash service, no cell coverage details, and a current flooding alert with unknown impacts means you need to call the Doniphan Ranger District at 573-996-2153 before you put in.

<p>The Whites Creek Float Camp is located on the left side of the <a href="https://www.fs.usda.gov/recarea/mtnf/recarea/?recid=21676">Eleven Point National Scenic River</a>. This camp is just 0.5 miles below <a href="https://www.fs.usda.gov/recarea/mtnf/recarea/?recid=21694">Whitten</a> and is only accessible by boat. This is a primitive dispersed campsite at the mouth of White’s Creek with a pit toilet.</p><p>The next takeout site downriver is <a href="https://www.fs.usda.gov/recarea/mtnf/recarea/?recid=21702">Riverton East</a>.</p><p>This float camp is on the Western side of the Irish Wilderness and provides access to the Whites Creek Trail system.</p>
The elevation is 300 ft. The campground is a spur ending in a loop situated near the Current River. Campsites with electric hookups are located at the front of the spur. These campsites are spacious but a lack of middle story provides poor privacy and limited shade. The parking aprons on the loop are shorter then the rest of the campground, but with large shade trees, offers fair shade and privacy. These campsite also have a groomed grass understory. No views of Current River are available from any campsite. A stoney beach on Current River is accessed by a bridge located behind campsite 15.

Wading and canoeing possible in the Current River - boat landing is at Dear Leap campground. A sandy beach is located in the day use area and a rocky stone beach is adjacent to campground. Neither area has designated swimming. Contact the ranger district office for local outfitters. Hiking: Woodchuck Trail (foot) - 0.5 miles provides access to day use area White Oak Trail (foot) - 1.5 miles Fishing: Bass, crappie, catfish, perch and sunfish

In Doniphan, MO, at intersection of State Rts. 160/21 and Y, take Rt. Y north 3.9 miles to campground sign (Forest Rt. 3210). Turn left onto Rt. 3210 and go 0.4 miles into campground.

Fall brings the best conditions. Mid-October delivers daytime highs in the 50s-70s°F with cool nights, low insect pressure, and hardwoods blazing orange and red. River flows stay steady, making paddling and fishing easier as water clarity improves. Weekdays are quiet; fall weekends see moderate use. Hunting seasons can bring more activity to the surrounding forest. Spring and winter work if you're prepared for solitude and weather swings. Summer is hot. River levels spike fast during rainstorms. Check conditions before paddling in.

Whites Creek Float Camp offers primitive camping options that include picnic tables and fire rings at each of its five designated sites. A centrally located pit toilet is available. "Restrooms are available at this site" but no potable water is provided. Visitors must treat any water found before consuming. Trash and recycling facilities are absent, requiring campers to pack out all garbage. The site is only accessible by boat.
