Fall delivers the best window: crisp days in the 40–60°F range, cool nights, and peak foliage from mid-September through October when maples and oaks light up the hardwood stands. Mosquitoes die down after the first frost, and wildlife viewing peaks as deer move and songbirds migrate. Summer (June–July) brings warmth but also horrendous bugs. Expect mosquitoes and black flies even with spray. Winter cabins are heated, and the park maintains groomed ski roads. Crowds thin noticeably after Labor Day.
Described as the best window: crisp days and peak foliage mid-Sept through Oct.
