The primitive camp serves equestrian groups and hikers on the Shore-to-Shore Trail, offering vault toilets and potable water in a mixed hardwood-and-pine setting at 827 feet elevation.

A rustic, open group/trail camp geared toward equestrian users and groups; tent camping is appropriate and primitive facilities are provided.

Natural Features and SceneryThe campground occupies a clearing where hardwoods and pines meet in the Boardman River valley. The river flows close to camp. Clear water good for fishing and paddling. The Shore-to-Shore Riding and Hiking Trail runs through the property, and the North Country Trail is nearby. Terrain rolls gently, typical of northern Michigan state forest: second-growth hardwoods, scattered white pine, and understory that thickens near the water. In fall, maples and oaks turn gold and red along the riverbank.
